About | Blair Lyonev

I started studying cross-cultural feminine archetypes and related lore in my teens, and haven't stopped. This passion followed me through college, where I researched and practiced Classical Indian dance and its rich mythology, ritual language, and cast of heroines, and then through an MFA in Writing where I did field research and journalism on the missing narratives of war, those of women refugees. Between and since I've taught writing, yoga, meditation, and women's embodiment practices, and worked as a freelance, ghost and speech writer.

Throughout I've centred women's voices, stories and bodies. And throughout I've wanted to bring all my seemingly disparate loves together: word and body, the mythic past and the complex lives of women in the morphing present, ancient paradigms and their contemporary avatars. This site is devoted to new writing and offerings that do just that: explore the possibility that the historical and archetypal matrix of the feminine is very much alive, relevant - even irrepressible - a resource of power and embodied wisdom, should we have the eyes to see it.
